After the Flutter Forward event in Nairobi, Kenya in January 2023, local Flutter communities around the world started organising the Extended version of the event in their cities to share highlights from Flutter Forward along with informative technical sessions.
As part of this series, Flutter Lahore in collaboration with GDG Lahore hosted Flutter Forward Extended at COLABS Lahore on 1st March, 2023.
Having attended Flutter Forward in Kenya earlier, our Co-founder and CEO, Sakina Abbas was invited to deliver the Keynote at this event.
She shared key updates as part of the Flutter 3.7 release which included:
- UI/UX updates with Material 3 and Cupertino widget enhancements,
- Impeller as the up and coming rendering runtime for Flutter,
- updates to the web support for Flutter (element embedding, WASM & RISC-V support)
- updates to Dart DevTools for memory management and insights for performance analysis
- preview of Dart 3α
Following the keynote, other speakers also shared their insights on industry standards and best practices and conducted technical sessions for the audience.
The event concluded with Haris Nadeem from GDG Lahore conducting a rapid fire Q&A with the audience, in which he asked fun questions about Flutter, and the first person to answer each of them correctly won swags from the community.
